Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

CALL US NOW

Sweating is our body’s response to overheating, but sometimes it gets a bit carried away.

While some dampness while exercising, doing manual labour or during hot weather is normal, sweating generally shouldn’t be an issue when you’re going about your daily business.

So if sweat patches around your underarms are a common thing, then you might suffer from Hyperhidrosis – or excessive sweating.

It’s a bit hard to pinpoint exactly what counts as ‘excessive’, as some people are naturally warmer and more prone to perspiration. But if your sweating is making you embarrassed, damaging your clothing or affecting how you go about your day, then you probably suffer from problem sweating.

Excessive sweating has a few different causes – hormonal, metabolic or neurologic – but generally it’s just the luck of the genetic draw. If you have Hyperhidrosis, you’ll be sweating away even if you’re feeling cool, calm and collected.

Generally problem sweating occurs around the underarms, hands, feet, face and backs of the knees, but it may also present in other areas of the body.

Treatments for Excessive Sweating

While topical application of special medicated deodorants can help manage excessive sweating, these aren’t always effective or convenient.

We can help put you in touch with our nurse practitioner who can prescribe Botox which can also be helpful for temporarily ‘freezing’ the sweat glands.

So if you’re tired of Hyperhidrosis ruining your best shirts, why not book an appointment with one of the JW Aesthetics team of nurses for a consultation or treatment.
